My sincerest condolences to the Filppu family on your loss. I am an attorney at the Board and was fortunate enough to work closely with Lauri over the last decade. He was a wise man, and a true mentor and friend to me. I admired him greatly and feel his absence with you.

Sandi, We will miss seeing Lauri around the neighborhood. Having your family as friends has meant a lot to Art and me and we will miss Lauri. I am so sorry he didn’t have more years with you to watch his grandchildren grow up.

Sandi & family, Losing Lauri is such a loss for you, and for so many of us. A memory from our friendship – Not long after I got to know Lauri, freshman year in high school, I went with some other guys to his house after school. When I got home late, my mother, who had fond hopes for her shy son, said “Oh, so you walked her home!” I had to explain, perhaps to her disappointment, that Lauri was a boy, that his family was Finnish. It was the first of many great afternoons at the Filppu’s, playing pool or board games and becoming good friends. I remember those days through tears – it’s hard to believe they’re gone. Surely Lauri’s good heart lives on in all of you. May the Lord bless you and stand beside you through these difficult days. Don Welch from Brockport
