Obituary of Remi Akinwale

Remi Ariike Akinwale was born on June 30th, 2001 in Prince George’s County Hospital to Ojo Akinwale and Bukky Oke in Cheverly, Maryland. She was a happy baby who always smiled vibrantly. 

Remi graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in 2019 and continued to further her education at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore. She studied Rehabilitation Services, graduating a semester early after fulfilling her requirements ahead of time. It is here that she met her best friend Immanuel, who would go on to become her fiance. They planned on getting married in the Spring of 2025. 

After graduating with honors, Remi would enroll at the University of Maryland, Baltimore to pursue a Masters in Social Work. 

Her final place of employment was the Damascus House Community Development Corporation, where she was an attentive case manager for those in need of transitional services. 

Remi was an avid reader, who loved spending time with family and friends. She also loved to shop, and enjoyed listening to punk rock tunes.

Remi is survived by her father, fiance, aunts, uncles, siblings, niece, cousins, and friends.
