Obituary of John Lee Mock
John Mock was born in Arlington Virginia on June 6, 1946 and passed away at Virginia Hospital Center on September 10, 2023.John met his loving wife Linda 59 years ago before being drafted into the United States Army. He was shipped off to Germany for 2 years and Linda waited for him. Upon his return John and Linda got married and started a family.
John then began his 40 + year career as a welder for Capital Boiler Works along side his belated brother Arthur 'Bubba" Mock whom John adored beyond measure. Those two together would have you laughing in minutes. Actually, John's wife Linda and Bubbas' wife Brenda were friends before meeting the Mock brothers.
John loved being at home with family, taking family trips here and there but never to far from home.He retired from Capital Boiler Works and loved to rub into anyone he could find to tell of his luck in retirement and how we all had to go to work. John started his own cab service (not a real cab service) after retirement for his wife and grand kids taking them anywhere they wanted to go. Pick up was always a half hour earler than needing to be picked up. Being late was not his thing.
John also loved to gamble here and there taking trips to Atlantic City and Charles Town. He loved to pull on the slot machine. But, needed to be home on football night for he was a die hard fan for as he would say "THE DALLAS COWBOYS". Even letting Pastor Reynolds know on game day he was rooting for the wrong team. Them Cowboys were going to crush them Redskins. Always the jokester.
Life was good until he had gallbladder surgery five years ago. Then later came the COPD diagnosis. He took it in stride and kept things moving as best he could, in and out of the hospital to drain fluid and back home for a bit. John put up a good fight until September 10th he lost his battle.
John leaves behind his loving wife Linda Mock they have three children Tammy (Fernando) Rivas, Johnny (Myrna) Mock, Tony (Tammy) Mock. John leaves five grandchildren Ryan, Jacob, Amanda, Nicholas and Brian. Also, two nieces that grew up with him whom he -considered sisters: Dinah and Charlotte. He is proceeded in death are parents Arthur and Lillie Mock and eight brother and sisters Arthur, William, Audrey, Charles, Calvin, Elizabeth, twins Arthur "Bubba"and Lillie "Lucy".
John was a husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to all and will be missed deeply.
We would like to give a special "Thank You" to Kari Mock for her love and support everyday.
