Obituary of Edna Louise Eagle

Edna Louise Eagle was born in Ansley, Nebraska on March 27, 1940 to Charles I. and Edna Grayce Brown.  Edna died suddenly on April 18, 2023 in Arlington, VA.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother “Bobby Brown.”  Edna leaves to mourn her husband of 62 years, Retired ACPD Detective Roscoe Eagle, her sister Betty Hughes, her sister-in-law Nellie who turned 100 on April 16, nieces, nephews, and other relatives as well as many friend who were much more like family.

While attending business school in Lincoln, Nebraska, recruiters from Washington, DC, the Navy, FBI, Etc. visited the school.  Edna signed up with the Navy and after she graduated moved to Washington, DC to work with the Navy Department.  Throughout her career, Enda worked for several different Federal Agencies in the DC area, retiring as a Management Analyst on March 3, 1984 from the U.S. Department of Energy in Germantown, MD.

Edna and Roc met through a friend on a blind date in 1959 and married in 1961.  During their retirement years, Edna and Roc dedicated many hours and lots of energy to the American Legion Family assisting to the need of veterans in the NCR, formerly known as the Nursing Home Unit, delivering comfort items, smiles and good cheer.  They each volunteered more than 5,000 hours over 28 years to the Washington VA Hospital Center.

Edna served as Department Historian, is a Past 17^th District President, and spent many years as 17^th District Secretary and Treasurer/Finance Officer.  Don’t know what we would have done without her-she was the glue that kept the 17^th District together and made sure we were always on the right track.

In her spare time, Enda loved to crochet and embroider.  Always thinking of others she spent many hours making hats, scarves, and lap blankets for veterans in hospitals, nursing homes, and in assisted-living homes as well as prayer shawls to bring comfort to someone in pain and to families who lost loved ones.

 A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 28, 10AM at Arlington National Cemetery, Administration Building.
