Obituary of Joan Patricia Pumphrey

Joan Patricia Pumphrey (age 75) passed away on Saturday January 8, 2022 at her home in Falls Church, Virginia.  She was born on August 2, 1946 in Washington, DC to John Edward and Mary Elizabeth Alexander.  Joan met her husband, John P. Pumphrey at People’s Drug Store in Arlington, Virginia, they were married on April 25, 1969 and set up house in Falls Church, Virginia.  The couple had two children, Jason and the late Lauren Pumphrey.  Joan retired from the Fairfax County school system after working as a school bus attendant for many years.  The family helped raise Joan’s brother, Timothy Alexander, as well as Lauren’s children, Treyvon and Tyrese Robinson and Aliyah Harris.  A memorial service will take place at a later date at Dulin United Methodist Church in Falls Church, Virginia.
