Luther Ragin Jr., affectionately known as “Ray” to his family and “Big Lu” to his friends, was born on May 3, 1970, to Luther Sr. and Vertell Ragin at Washington Hospital Center in the District of Columbia. He was called home on December 11, 2021.

Luther Jr. graduated from Fairmont Heights High School located in Prince George’s County, MD. For thirty years, he worked for Nova Label Co. Inc. as a printing pressman. Family was important to Luther Jr., and he shared his love with many throughout his lifetime. Through marriage, he gained a daughter Shanelle, and later had two sons, Luther III who proceeded him in death, and Lloyd.

Luther Jr. had a passion for cars, but more than anything, he loved helping people. His favorite saying was “Keep Hope Alive.” He embodied this saying by uplifting people with humor and stories to help them make it through another day.

In addition to his encouraging nature, Luther Jr. had a huge heart and was always willing to help anybody in need and gave whatever he could. His selfless attitude was contagious, and he touched many lives.

He leaves to cherish his memory, father Luther Sr., mother Vertell, sisters Victoria (Kyle Lee) and Vernee’ (Reginald English), daughter Shanelle, son Lloyd, grandson Carter, nieces, nephews, and a host of close friends. Gone but not forgotten; Luther Jr. will always be cherished in our hearts.
