Obituary of Richard Henry Wytko

Richard was born January 24, 1941 in Johnstown, PA to John Wytko and Anna Wasil Wytko.  Richard was predeceased by his parents, John and Anna,  and his brother, Joseph.

Richard moved to Washington, DC in September 1959 to work for the U.S. government at the Central Intelligence Agency.  Early in his career in government, Richard was assigned to duty in Greece.  On his way home from that assignment, he visited Paris and London.  His career with the government included working with mainframe and smaller computers, writing programs for these computers, and acting as supervisor of particular units within the government agency for which he worked.

Richard was an active member of St. Gregory Byzantine Catholic Church in Washington , DC where he was a member of the parish choir, before moving to Epiphany of our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church and Parish in 1970.  Richard continued to be an active parishioner of Epiphany, participating in the Epiphany Men's Club becoming a chartered member.  He served as a member of the cantors who chant the responses in the liturgy. At Epiphany Richard was a member of Epiphany choir 1974 - 1980 and Slava Men's Chorus 1993-2019, and a young adult Catholic group.

Viewing will be at Epiphany of our Lord Byzantine Catholic, located at 3410 Woodburn Road, Annandale, VA  22003, Wednesday, July 14 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM with Parastas at 7:30 PM.  The funeral is Thursday, July 15, at Epiphany of our Lord Church with viewing from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM followed by the Funeral Divine Liturgy at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's name to Epiphany of our Lord Church.
