ON THURSDAY, APRIL 29, 2021, GOD SENT HIS ANGELS DOWN TO GIVE OUR DEARLY BELOVED BETTIE BLOUNT MILLS HER WINGS. A NATIVE WASHINGTONIAN, BETTIE WAS BORN ON DECEMBER 22, 1938, RAISED AND EDUCATED IN D.C. AND AFTER A SUCCESSFUL CAREER, PROUDLY RETIRED FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY. THE DAUGHTER OF NORA E. AND EDWARD J. BROWN, BOTH PREDECEASING HER. BETTIE WAS THE FIRSTBORN OF THREE CHILDREN TO INCLUDE BROTHERS: ELBERT E. BROWN (DECEASED) AND EDWARD J. BROWN JR. MA BEE, A NAME SHE WAS AFFECTIONATELY CALLED, LOVED, SHARED MANY STORIES AND LOVINGLY PROVIDED FOR HER ONLY CHILD, WILLIAM BLOUNT MILLS, HER SON. BETTIE WAS JOINED IN MARRIAGE TO GEORGE GLEN MILLS FOR THIRTY-SIX YEARS PRIOR TO HIS DEATH IN 2015. EXTREMELY GIFTED & ARTISTIC IN A VARIETY OF CRAFTS, BEE WAS QUITE THE ENTREPRENEUR AND IN HER MANY TRAVELS THROUGHOUT THE DMV AND AMIDST DIFFERENT LIFE EXPERIENCES, SHE LOVINGLY ASSEMBLED A GROWING FAMILY TO INCLUDE HER IN-LAWS, NIECES, NEPHEWS, GREAT-NIECES/NEPHEWS, A VERY SPECIAL GOD-SISTER, COUNTLESS GOD-DAUGHTERS/SONS, GRAND-GOD-CHILDREN AND AN EXTENDED ADOPTED FAMILY AS WELL AS MANY FRIENDS. MRS. BEE’S LEGACY WILL BE FOREVER REMEMBERED FOR HER NUMEROUS ACTS OF KINDNESS AND ALTHOUGH EXTREMELY CANDID, HER WORDS OF WISDOM, INSPIRATION & ENCOURAGEMENT WILL FOREVER REMAIN WITH US ALL.
