I am devastated to learn of the passing of Barbara. We called her our Little Annie Antley in Lynchburg. That’s where we met, at Lynchburg Social Services. I spent a lot of time at Barbara’s house with my two daughters. When I told them of what I learned they too were saddened. They remember her and her big, sweet dog, Adrienne!! Barbara was so sweet, kind and funny. We had a great time socializing with our unit at DSS. I did not get the chance to continue our friendship when she moved. Life happened and didn’t allow but I never forgot her and would talk about her often. I had asked Coles about her the other day and that is when she told me the news. There is no way you could forget her after meeting her. Many condolences to the family and my prayers go out to you. I know you miss her. I wish I had gotten the chance to see her again but she will always be with me and memories of our great times will be with me until we meet again. God bless and may he continue to comfort you during this time.

I am absoultely devastated to have learned just a couple hours ago that my friend, Barbara Antley, whom I called "Little Annie Antley," passed almost a year ago. She called me Coles. I have had her on my mind often and recently sent an email and message and did not hear back so I was sending her a note and Christmas card and decided to look up her address on line. So very shocked to find her obit instead!!! I thought she was probably busy with her grandkids. I met her first grandchild when I met "Little Annie" and Emily for lunch. I met Barbara when she worked in Lynchburg, Va as a Social Worker for the Lynchburg Division of Social Services. She transferred to the LDSS from Juvenile Services and I was her supervisor. She resigned to further her studies at VCU to get her Master's in Social Work. She made the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever eaten and used to bake and send me cookies every Christmas after she relocated. She taught Em how to make cookies also. We had some "experiences." When I visited her in Leesburg, my brother's jeep caught on fire as we were preparing for me to leave. She came to Lynchburg for a conference and stayed with me instead of at the hotel meeting site. I visited in her home and I can still recall reading a story to Zack on the sofa as she was preparing breakfast. Whenever I was in the DC/ northern VA area, she would always come and visit me briefly wherever I was. A year or so before the pandemic, I was in the area at a church hosting a P3 (Partners in Prayer and Prevention) workshop on church security and she joined us briefly so we could have lunch. I introduced her to some of the people there. My friend, BJ Antley, told the ladies and the State Coordinator of P3 that I taught her everything she knew. I was so proud to hear that and as I read her obit, I am even prouder because I am hoping I helped her as much as she helped me get things done to represent causes for those who needed assistance. My heart is heavy, and my eyes are dim by tears but I send condolences to Michael, Emily, her dad and her family. Farewell my Friend. Going to continue to miss you but remember you fondly for all the times and laughter we shared.
