Obituary of Robert L. Chance

Robert L. Chance, Jr.—better known to most as Bobby—died Wednesday June 5, 2013 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center. Bobby was born in Annapolis on March 17, 1943 and has been active in this community all his life. Bobby graduated from Annapolis High School in 1961 and served in the Maryland National Guard. He has been the owner of W.R. Chance Diamond Jewelers in downtown Annapolis since 1964. Bobby was a member of the Annapolis Masonic Lodge #89 and is a Past Patron of the Annapolis O.E.S. Chapter #46. Bobby was an avid equestrian and adventurous outdoorsman who loved to ski, sail, hunt, and travel. Unquestionably magnanimous, Bobby served his community in all that he did with irresistible charm and boisterous spirit. Bobby is survived by his wife Jean Chance, mother Marie Chance, children Michelle Priddy and Bruce Chance, grandchildren Kyle & Katherine Priddy and Sophie Chance, and sister Peggy Purdy. The family will be having a celebration service on Wednesday June 12, 2013 from 5:30-8:30pm at Bobby’s farm, which is located at 261 Ferrick Road in Centreville, MD 21617. Since this is a celebration service, we request casual attire—no black, no suits, and definitely no ties. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maryland Therapeutic Riding and/or the Maryland 4H Foundation. Please visit the W.R. Chance Facebook page for further information on donations and for directions to the celebration service.
