Obituary of Mary Begley Hannon

Mary Begley Hannon, 89, passed away of natural causes on August 14, 2013, at her residence at The Virginian in Fairfax, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late James J. Begley and Margaret O’Brien Begley, and the widow of Daniel Henry Hannon. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hannon (and husband George Campbell) of Locust Grove, VA; a sister, Peggy Ann Cawley (and husband Cliff) of East Providence, RI; a brother, Robert Begley (and wife Ann) of Palo Alto, CA; nieces Kathleen Cawley of Cumberland RI, Eileen Cawley Azar (and husband Brian) of Lincoln, RI, Christine Begley of Costa Rica, and Geraldine Paquet (and husband Phil) of Auburndale, MA; nephews Brian Begley (and wife Cherrie) of Los Altos, CA and Robert Begley Jr. of Santa Barbara, CA; grandnephews Ryan Begley of Palo Alto, Christopher and Michael Azar of Lincoln, Timothy Porell, Jeffrey Porell, and Philip Paquet (and wife Leigh) of Newton, MA; grandnieces Erin and Caroline Azar of Lincoln, Ciara Begley of Los Altos, Kelly Porell Cannon (and husband Brian) of Richmond, VA, Kara Porell, Elisha Smith (and husband Chris) of Bedford, MA, and Claire Coen of Auburndale; and great grand nieces Olivia and Avery Coen of Auburndale. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. on August 20, 2013, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 3901 Woodburn Road, Annandale, VA. An inurnment ceremony at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA will be held on August 27, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. She will be inurned alongside her late husband, who has been waiting there for her for almost 20 years. Mrs. Hannon was a graduate of Regis College in Weston, MA and received a master’s degree in science from Fordham University in N.Y. She worked as a chemist at Dewey & Almy Chemical Co. in Cambridge, MA prior to her marriage, and was always an avid reader. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
