Tia Yaya, You left this world but not our hearts; the sons whom you have left behind carry the grace, intelligence, and the good character that emanated from you. You will always be with us and we all look forward to the time we shall reunite with you and all our loved ones in the Kingdom of Heaven! We love you very much and thank you for all the good memories that we able to share together. Love Ricky and Family.

Tía YaYa, Time is such a precious thing and when spent with those you love, it is the epitome of true happiness. As I reminisce on our time together I only wish I expressed my love more. I will always feel blessed to be part of a family where love and compassion resonates so strongly, which was only amplified with your presence. You were always so kind and selfless in life. I know with you looking over us from the other side we will accomplish great things as a family. I miss and love you dearly, Matthew

Who else would have a greater influence on an individual than their own mother? The one who cares for you and loves you. The one who considers one of her greatest accomplishments in life to be the raising of her children. Certainly, a mother is more than just a caretaker. She is a source of support, a role model, and a friend. My mother was all of this and more.
While my brothers and I probably did not make it easy for our mother at times, she was content with her role in life. Looking back, I am grateful for all of the little things she did for us: playing with us, listening to our problems, and teaching us about the world, for example. However, I am most thankful for the time I was able to spend getting to know such a strong woman who always looked on the bright side, wanted to help in any way she could, and trusted everything in God. She was a woman who I was proud to call my mother.

I am still in shock that you were called up so soon. Indeed you were a very loving and gentle person who always thought of others before yourself. I will remember you as the person of faith and compassion. I recall you calling me Topher which always made me laugh. The lessons in life you taught me will continue to stick with me. I pray that the memories we all have of you carry us through these difficult times. I know the foundation you laid down of perseverance for your children will continue to influence them. I thank God for the time he blessed me with you. I miss you deeply Tia Yaya! Love Topher

Esmeralda I was truly blessed to have had a wonderful, amazing, caring sister in-law, and a friend for 34 years. Even though you have left us so soon, I will always cherish those times we shared together. There are so many wonderful memories I have of you. I remember our trip to Galveston and the fun we had on the beach. How I snapped a picture of you when you weren’t looking and you got mad at me. Thank God the picture came out good and you were well pleased. And now that you are no longer with us, I will always have those fond memories that will fill the void in my heart. I love you and miss you. Your sister in- law. Liz

Tia Yaya was my god mother. She taught me me abc’s, how to tie my shoelaces and how to crochet when my grandma was impatient with me all before she had children of her own. She raised Daniel and Anthony to be good smart and strong men and I have no doubt they will be able to continue caring for Christian in the same way. I love you Tia Yaya, you will be missed.

Dearest Yaya, Que en Paz descanses…there are no words to express my shock and belief that you are now gone at such an early age! My only reasoning for all of this, is that you are now in heaven with God, as an angel to continue to be your children’s guiding light. You understood that in this world, rearing a child can be very difficult in the mist of all its ugly influences, but you were always strong and managed to hold your ground and your children are amazing and will continue to be because of all YOU have taught them!
Love, Sandra

My mother was the epitome of a person who always gave more than she took. She was a selfless, caring woman who made sure everyone else was taken care of before tending to herself. I can barely put into words the amount of love she had for us. Even when we turned our backs on her at times, she dropped everything to support us when we needed it.
I am eternally grateful for all that she did to raise me and I will take to heart all of her teachings. She was a woman of faith, compassion, and wisdom. A beautiful person, inside and out.
I love you Mom. Daniel Sanworanart

Esmeralda,
We are so saddened to see you go and are so troubled that we could not spend more time with you. Although you lived a very quiet and simple life, we now recognize your true joy came in raising your remarkable sons. What a wonderful mark you left in this world.
I will cherish the younger years spent with you as we relocated to Northern Virginia, exploring our new surroundings and getting established. There were some great afternoons spent on a park bench just sipping coffee along with our favorite pastries and talking about life and our possibilities. I’ll never forget the numerous city buses we took around town just to get acquainted with our new surroundings. We tracked some miles on those metro buses and I will forever keep those memories alive.
I love you and I’ll miss you
Your sister, Perla Manuel
