Obituary of Ingrid M. Larson

Ingrid M. Larson, age 73, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 14, 2014 after a short stay at the Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia with her husband, Roger and son, Thomas Redeske and wife Nicky present. She was born November 23, 1940 in Antigo, WI. She grew up in the Albion, New York area and graduated from Albion High School in 1958. She received a teaching degree from the State University of New York at Albany in 1962 and later had graduate studies at the University of Minnesota. She taught History and Latin, or Students with Learning Disabilities in Georgia, New York, Minnesota and Virginia until she retired in the mid 1980’s. She was a past member of Albion Methodist Church, Albion, NY; Faith Covenant Church, Burnsville, MN; Evangelical Covenant Church, Buffalo, MN; Excelsior Covenant Church, Excelsior, MN; Community Covenant Church, Springfield, VA; South Run Baptist Church, Springfield, VA; Word of Life Assembly of God, Springfield, VA; Burke Community Church, Burke, VA; and most recently Parkwood Baptist Church in Annandale, VA where she was often involved in activities like teaching Sunday School or Vacation Bible School, directing the King’s Kids choir, directing ESOL programs and/or singing in the choir. She loved music and used it in her teaching especially of English for Speakers of Other Languages students which she did for 25 years in the northern Virginia area. She has been involved in Bible Study Fellowship as a class member or discussion group leader off and on for over 30 years. She loved the outdoors with hiking, canoeing, whitewater rafting, cross country skiing as favorite activities and flower gardening to cheer her spirit. Exercise activities included square dancing, swimming, water aerobics, and Body and Soul classes. She was an avid reader (book study groups) and loved to both read and write poetry. Travels included trips to Norway, Canada, Caribbean, Hawaii, Israel, Greece, Austria, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, and short term mission trips to Slovakia (2) and Romania. However, her most enjoyable trips were visits with family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Roger, son Thomas (Nicky) and granddaughter Jenny of Pasadena, MD, Son Nels Redeske and granddaughter Abilgail of Farmington MN, son Kenneth (Vickie) Larson of Brooklyn Park, MN, brothers William (Phyllis) Maine of Charlotte, NC and Paul Maine of Buffalo, NY, and thirteen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Franklin Leland Maine, her mother Ingrid Lund Maine, her sister Dorothy Mateyk, and her brother Erling W. Maine. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11:00 am at Parkwood Baptist Church in Annandale, VA., with a lunch and reception to follow in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be at the Willet Cemetery in Willet, NY at a later date.
