Obituary of Lewis R. Edwards

Lewis R. “Randy” Edwards (82) On Wednesday, August 6, 2014, Randy passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Randy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Grace; his daughter, Kathryn (Steve); his sister, Ruth Dowling, and brothers, Ronald and Robert. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Brian (Amanda), William “Bill”, and Brooke Corey as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Gary, and brothers, Raymond and Ralph. Born to Mabel and Thomas Edwards on August 22, 1931, Randy grew up in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Eastern High School in 1950. He served in the Navy from 1951-1954 aboard the USS Midway and was a musician in the naval fleet band. He worked first for Pepco as a boiler operator and then The Charles E. Smith Company as a Building Manager. He was an active member in the Free Mason and served as a Past Master of Naval Lodge #4 in Washington, D.C. Randy loved his family and always enjoyed making people laugh. He was a kind and gentle man who always had a helping hand for others. Randy was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be truly missed. A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Advent Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations in his name to Capital Caring Hospice at www.capitalcaring.org. Interment will be private at a later date.
