Obituary of Rosena Foster Auerbach

Rosena Foster Auerbach passed away unexpectedly August 16, 2014 in Arlington, Virginia. The daughter of Preston Samuel Foster and Amy Dubois Hand Foster, she was born October 24, 1926 in Bridgeton, NJ and lived in Elmer until her marriage to Millard Usinger, now deceased. She was a 1944 graduate of Bridgeton High School. She was a long-time resident of Vineland, NJ while her children were attending school and she worked for many years with the North Vineland PTA, serving as President in 1963-64 and later serving as the Treasurer for the New Jersey PTA. She also worked in the Elmer Times, the newspaper established by her grandfather, Samuel Preston Foster, but her favorite job was that of mother and homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George Auerbach, brother Preston Foster, Jr., sister June Foster Fry, daughter-in-law Peggy Usinger, and a nephew. After 29 years in Hollywood, Florida, she moved to Springfield, Virginia to live with her daughter. She will be greatly missed by her four children, J. Ross Usinger II (Nadine Lance-Sloan), Amy Tomasso (Buddy), Jan Sanchez (Johnny), and Jon Usinger (Ann); two stepchildren William Auerbach (Madge) and Kathy Auerbach; six grandchildren, Jennifer Hatfield (Brad), Brian Tomasso, Kevin Tomasso (Annette), Jaime Auerbach, Ashley Auerbach, and Ryan Auerbach; and six great grandchildren, Reagan Hatfield, Chase Tomasso, Ashlyn Tomasso, Michael Tomasso, Julie Tomasso, and Anthony Auerbach; 10 nephews and 1 niece. A memorial service will be held in Elmer, NJ on October 24, 2014. Her ashes will be interred in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Elmer, NJ. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Macular Degeneration Foundation, Inc.
