Obituary of Helen Irene Haske

Helen Irene Haske, resident of the City of Falls Church for more than 60 years, died at home on Sunday, November 9, 2014. Mrs. Haske was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, John (Jack) Reed Haske, and her sisters; Mae, Alice, Betty and Thelma. Helen was a member of the Presbyterian Women of the Falls Church Presbyterian Church and was very involved in church activities for many years. She managed the annual church blanket and Salvation Army charitable drives, was on the flower committee and she was a Deacon and head usher. She was very knowledgeable about antiques and interior design, was a member of an antiques club and occasionally wrote poetry. She was an avid reader, interested in everything from politics to baseball. Helen was a successful real estate sales agent for many years and raised five children: Joseph Reed; Irene Marie; John Garland; Margaret Anne; and Jeanne Frances. Christmas holidays at “Ga’s house” were delightful and will be remembered by her grandchildren as everything that Christmas should be. Helen was sensitive, talented, intelligent and beautiful. She will be missed by her children, her brother, Charles William Smith of Keyser, West Virginia, and her son in law, Patrick H. Hare, and by her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. A service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Falls Church Presbyterian Church, 225 East Broad Street, Falls Church, VA 22046. After the service the Presbyterian women plan a reception in Helen’s honor in the church fellowship hall with light refreshments. A private interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Please send flowers to the church.
