Carla Rondina

Obituary of Carla Rondina

Carla Rondina We celebrate the life and mourn the death of Carla Rondina, world traveler, successful businesswoman, and mother. On December 28, 2014, she passed away peacefully in her sleep in the presence of her daughter and a dog she loved after a few days in hospice. Carla Rondina was born to Carlo and Margherita Rondina, on April 15, 1923, in Padua, Italy. She grew up in the Veneto region of Italy and also in Rome. Carla was living in Rome with her family during World War II and throughout her life she felt a special affection for Rome. Carla had an adventurous bold spirit and loved to travel. She found an ideal career in the travel business. While she was working in a travel agency in Genoa, Italy, the agency decided to establish a United States branch either in New York, Chicago, or San Francisco. Carla, who spoke English (as well as Spanish, French, and Italian) , was selected to set up the US branch. She loved San Francisco and soon became the owner of the new travel agency located there. She remained working in San Francisco until she retired, but did not stop traveling or moving both within the US and abroad. Her lifetime travels included, but were not limited to, Brazil, Argentina, Egypt, Australia, and throughout Europe. During the last decade she moved to Rome, Florida, and then back to San Francisco, before moving to Virginia in the summer of 2014 to be closer to her daughter. Carla also loved dogs and enjoyed the company of her daughter’s German Shepherds in Virginia. Carla is survived by her only daughter, Victoria Viets (married to Raymond Viets), her sister, Lilliana Innocenzi, and her niece and nephew, Mara and Fabio Innocenzi. Carla’s husband pre-deceased her many years ago. Memorial donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders or to the ASPCA.
