Obituary of Eleanor Dunphy Berthiaume

Eleanor D. Berthiaume, 67, passed away March 13, 2015 at the Powhatan Nursing Home in Falls Church, VA. Eleanor was born in Washington, D.C. to Robert and Theresa Dunphy. She graduated from Elizabeth Seton High School in 1965 and the University of Maryland in 1969. During college, Eleanor met William “Bill” Berthiaume and they were married on September 20, 1969. Eleanor supported Bill, their sons, and her fellow Navy wives during fourteen different postings around the world. Eleanor and Bill settled in Virginia in 2000 after Bill retired from the Navy as a Captain. Eleanor is survived by her sons, David, Daniel, and Jason, their lovely wives, and her four beloved grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear siblings, Donna, Dennis, Ed, and John, their spouses, her sister-in-law Glee, and countless extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-five years, Bill. Graveside services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Assemble at the administration building no later than 12:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor’s name to the Fisher House Foundation at www.fisherhouse.org.
