Obituary of Joan Shattuck

Joan Shattuck passed away on October 6, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Shattuck and her son, Brian Shattuck. She is survived by three children, Mark Shattuck, Teresa Hendershot and Christine Shattuck, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Joan was an Army wife for 15 years before returning to the workforce. She ended her career as the Senior Meetings Planner for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association retiring after some 20 years of service. Joan loved to cook and everyone loved to eat whatever she cooked. She was a true artist with food. She liked cooking all types of cuisines. It’s not bragging to say that Joan made the best Gumbo outside of New Orleans, Her Panang Curry was as good as any you that you would get in a Thai restaurant. She was an excellent conversationalist. Her humor, wit and cooking will be sorely by her friends and family. There will be a brief viewing from 8 to 9 am on Thursday, October 10 at the Advent Funeral & Cremation Services located at 7211 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA. Followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Michael Catholic Church located at 7401 St. Michaels Lane, Annandale, VA with interment to follow at Columbia Gardens Cemetery located at 3411 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, VA.
