Luisa overcame many challenges in her life Born in Italy in 1938, she was a child of war and talked of her memories of bombs and planes flying overhead She lost her father, Cesare Clivio, to war When her mother, Marta Salomoni, married an American in 1947, Luisa had to leave Italy and the only family she had known She became a naturalized American citizen and learned to speak English She developed a lifelong love of ballet when her teacher took her to see a ballet when she was a student in Germany in the early 1950s She lived in many places throughout her life: Italy, Germany, California, France, Virginia, and Maryland She married her husband, Fred Holbrook, in 1977 and was married for 28 years until his death in 2005 Luisa never had children of her own but always loved babies and children No matter where she lived, she was always a neighborhood child care resource She was loved and will be missed — in the end, what more is there? Services are to be determined.
