Obituary of Armando Galindo

Mr. Armando “Armandito” Galindo Jr., born on December 3, 1962, in the Bronx, New York, to Nancy Vinales Galindo and Armando Galindo, passed away unexpectedly at age 55 on November 7, 2018, in Falls Church, Virginia. Armando graduated from Amherst College in 1984 and City University of New York with a Master’s of Public Health, Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, in 2001. He worked as a safety and occupational health manager for the U.S. Department of Interior’s (DOI) Office of Occupational Health and Safety. Armando was the beloved husband of Shannon M. Stapleton. He is survived by his brother, John Galindo, and siblings, Meghan Stapleton Steenburgh, Eric Steenburgh, and T. David Stapleton, III; his aunts, Elsie, Anna, Irma, and Reggie; uncles, Conrad and Felix; nieces, Isabella, Ji Ji and Mia, and nephew, Michael. He loved football, football and more football with some baseball and basketball; traveling and cooking gourmet meals. Armando was a passionate, loving, funny and devoted family man and friend. He was a devotee of history and civil rights and yearned for a fairer, more peaceful world. In lieu of flowers, Armando’s family invites donations be made in his memory to St. Ann’s Church at 295 St. Ann’s Ave., Bronx, NY 10454. There will be a memorial mass and celebration of Armando’s life in the Bronx, NY, in the near future as well as a smaller celebration after the holidays in Virginia for those who cannot make it to New York.
