I knew Elinor and her husband, daughters and Gomme in Nigeria in the 60’s, She became my Auntie! I have so many wonderful memories of the whole family. One day when the were quite newly moved into their home on Laird road Auntie asked me to show her to the store in her new little fiat car. I’m not sure if she drove in New York but it was one of the scariest car rides I ever went on, you needed to drive on the opposite side of the road there as well. When we got to the store, she hit this big concrete post. We laughed all the way there and all the way back! I have so many beautiful, happy memories with the family and I can’t imagine the loss her girls are feeling. Much love to all,

I have just become aware of Dr. Elinor Sinnette. My deepest condolences to her family. In my youth, I was a post-high school student in a library assistant program she ran in Kenya in the mid-1970s. Her encouragement and genuine caring helped me pursue librarianship up to the graduate level, eventually moving to the U.S. to obtain a PhD and finding a teaching position at an American university. I will never be able to thank her enough, and her memory will remain with me forever.

My condolences to the family of Elinor Sinnette. Although I lost contact with Elinor over the years, I will always remember and treasure the years we worked together at Howard University. She was a wonderful and brilliant woman.

What a remarkable person! So much ahead of her time. She sounds like someone we very much would have enjoyed knowing. How wonderful that you, Darryle, and your sister got to call her Mother/Mom!
