Obituary of Mate Klaric

(Age 91) Died peacefully at Capital Caring Hospice, Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center (HMIC) in Arlington, VA on July 1, 2011 from pneumonia after suffering from Lewy body dementia. Dear husband for 65 years of Veronika; father of Wilfrieda (Frieda) Kulish and son-in-law Jon of Arlington, VA; of Anita of Arlington, VA; of Mary Lou (Lou) and son-in-law Howard Stone of Annandale, VA; grandfather to Lisa and Nicholas Kulish, and to Susha and Sam Stone. He is survived by two sisters, who reside in Croatia. Also among many nieces and nephews, Iko Marsic of Windsor, Canada and Mato Dracar of Freedom, PA. Mate retired from the American Bridge Division of US Steel after 30 years of service. In addition to being a steelworker, he was a master bricklayer in Europe before emigrating in 1950 to the Sewickley area from Croatia by way of Germany. Aside from his family, his proudest accomplishment was the home he built himself on Camp Meeting Road in Bell Acres Borough, PA. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held in Sewickley, PA in the Fall.
