Obituary of Fortunato S. Lira

Fortunato Lira was the devoted husband of Magna Lira; caring father of Luz, Jose, Patricia, Connie, Jean, and Katie; and doting grandfather of six grandchildren, Zachary, Isabela, Raquel, Ryan, Gabriela and Lillian. In 1969, like most Americans he immigrated to the U.S. to provide himself and his growing family better opportunities for success. Never forgetting his thankfulness to God, he worked and sacrificed much to provide a catholic school education for his children. He became a sole-proprietor of a plumbing business for 25 years. He was highly regarded among his peers and enjoyed working with his clients. He also enjoyed traveling and visited Italy, France, Netherlands, Hawaii, and trips to his native Peru. He especially enjoyed hiking around the countryside to Arequipa, Puno, Piura, Tumbes, Machu Pichu and Cajamarca. He was a conversationalist and loved to talk politics and home building. When relaxing, he enjoyed playing with his beloved cat, Mickey, and watching old westerns. Memorial contributions donations in his name may be made to Capital Caring, Attn:Philanthropy Department, 2900 Telestar Court, Falls Church, VA 22042, or to Humane Society Or flowers for the Church, St. Phillips Catholic Church, 7500 Saint Phillip Court, Falls Church, VA 22042.
