Obituary of Thelma Rapatan

THELMA “BABY” QUIACHON RAPATAN On January 14, 2012, Thelma Quiachon Rapatan or “Baby” as known by her close friends, passed away at the Manor Care Rehab Home at Carlin Springs Rd., Arlington, VA. She was 81 years old when she died of cardiac arrest. She is survived by her children, Miguel or “Mike, Raphael or “Butchie” , Gabriel or “Gabby” and Ma. Teresita or “Terri” and her in-laws Connie (wife of Gabriel), Jessica (former wife of Raphael), and Joseph Anthony Soler (husband of Terri) and nieces Aina Christine, Nicole Marie, Natalie Elizabeth and Hannah Lauren. Her husband, Bienvenido, also passed away last Dec. 14 in Manila, Philippines. Born in Cebu, Philippines Thelma immigrated to the United States in 1973 and worked at the United Nations in New York City and the World Bank in Washington, DC. She was known to be a deeply religious woman and was an active in different parish prayer groups and was also a Third Order Carmelite. She was known to her friends for being eager to help anyone in need and extend a helping hand. She will be missed by her children, in-laws and nieces for her zest for life, generosity and spirit of faith. A wake of her cremated remains will be held Thursday, Jan. 19 5-9 pm at the Advent Funeral and Cremation Services at 7211 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA. The Mass of the Resurrection will be said on Friday, Jan. 20 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Parish Church, Falls Church, VA. The pious reader is requested to pray for the eternal repose of her soul.
