Obituary of Sara H. Woodson

Sara Helen Woodson passed away on Monday, 10/8/2012 at home surrounded by her family and now has her new glorified body in heaven. Sara was born on 10/22/1926 in Chattanooga, TN. She graduated from Central High School in Chattanooga, TN. She loved to travel and spent the next 10 years pursuing that passion taking a job in Europe with the government which allowed her to see the world. She was the wife of Eugene Albert Woodson and had one daughter, Melodie Lisa Mandanis. She was blessed with three wonderful grandchildren whom she loved and adored named Madeline, Tam and Bella Mandanis. She left a legacy of faith, love and serving others to her family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at The Fort Myer Old Post Chapel, 204 Lee Avenue Fort Myer, Fort Myer, VA 22211-1199 (adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery). Please arrive by 8:30 am. Access to The Old Post Chapel is through Ft Myer. Please arrive at the Hatfield Gate (on Washington Boulevard at South 2nd Street — this is the Main gate and is open at all times) or the Wright Gate (on Marshall Drive at Meade Street just off Rte 110 — Open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week) in time to clear security (usually 30 minutes is sufficient). Directions to the reception will be distributed after the graveside service. Interment will immediately follow at Arlington National Cemetery. My Mom had requested that we all wear bright colors to celebrate her life! She cared more for the welfare of others and would have wanted donations made to Capital Caring Hospice located at 209 Gibson Street, NW, Suite 202 Leesburg, VA 20176. They cared for my Mom with great love and compassion during her end of life journey. My Mom also requested that donations be made to Centerpointe Church located at 4101 Legato Road, Fairfax, VA 22033 which is her home church. Please note: To attend the service at the Old Post Chapel, you must enter through security at the Hatfield Gate or the Wright Gate. Additional information may be found at the Arlington National Cemetery web site at www.arlingtoncemetery.mil, or the Ft Myer web site at www.military.com.
