Persida Pimentel

Obituary of Persida Racquel Pimentel

Persida Pimentel was born April 15, 1945 in Juncos, Puerto Rico to Ramon Rodriguez and the late Josephine Vizcarrondo. She was raised in the tough South Bronx community known as Fort Apache. Her penchant for running away from home made her an at-risk teenager. Teen Challenge Ministries turned her life around. She travelled to 48 states preaching the Gospel of Christ and sang with the Andrae Crouch Choir. She attended Latin American Bible Institute in La Puente, California. After she left the Ministry, she began a long career working for Social Security Administration as a claims representative and later as a paralegal analyst specialist. She accrued many awards and greatly impacted the lives of her co-workers. In 1997 while living and working in Mesa, Arizona, she was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Sadly, underestimating this killer disease would cause her multiple organ failure. On Friday, April 12, 2013, during a medical procedure, she went into Cardiac Arrest and could not be revived. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, William Pimentel, her father, Ramon Rodriguez, her brother, Omar Rodriguez and his wife, Josie. She is also survived by her nephews, Omar and Aaron, and a niece, Joleen and many loving family and friends. Her visitation will be held at Advent Funeral Services, 7211 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Va 22046 on Thursday, April 18 from 11am-3pm.
