Obituary of Amy Culbertson

Amy Culbertson, beloved sister, devoted daughter, loyal cousin, and valued friend, passed away on March 30, 2024 after fighting a long difficult battle against ocular melanoma. Her ebullient personality and spirited nature, belied a lifetime struggle with a systemic chronic illness. Undeterred by her ailment, she bounded through life, exuding good will and positive energy at every turn.

Her unquenchable thirst for knowledge resulted in her attaining a Masters of Science and Bachelor of Science Degrees from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, as well as being trained as an Integrated Health Coach from Duke University, and as a Professional Coach from the Office of Personal Management Internal Coach Training Program. To read about Amy’s extensive government service at a number of different agencies, you can visit her bio on the AFERM  website. Her most recent position was Assistant Director of Performance Management, Department of Homeland Security, Program Analysis and Evaluation.

Amy was also a nature lover who relished her many trips to Longwood gardens. She was a practitioner of Ikebana, the centuries-old Japanese art of arranging flowers. After retiring from her government career, she embarked on a life journey exploring mediation and mindfulness. To read more about her interests and practices, visit her health coaching website AMYCULBERTSON.COM.

Amy’s infinite zeal and buoyant way, even in the face of adversity, was an inspiration to all that knew her. She is survived by her siblings Jo, John, and Lyndall, her niece Emily, nephew Matt, and her many cousins.

Amy had numerous plans for the future that were tragically cut short by her sudden demise. She will be greatly missed.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in her name to the following organizations.
