Obituary of Richard Kimball Schenck
Schenck, Richard K., age 85, on May 4, 2023. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years Patricia and daughter Sandra Marie. Cherished father of Richard Schenck (Kathy) of Fort Myers, FL, and Missy Heinzer (Lou) of Arlington, VA. He was the beloved grandfather of Jacob, Aden, and Mason Heinzer, Samantha Schenck, Alexa Gates, and great-granddaughter, Lillian Gates. He will also be dearly missed by his nieces and remaining brothers.
As the oldest of five boys born to Lillian and Frank Schenck in Bayville, NY, He and his brothers – Frank, George, Kimball, and John were all known locally for their athletic ability, trouble, and reputation that they caused as teens and their love of family.
Richard spent a year in the Air Force after high school. Upon returning to Long Island, he continued to pursue his passions – rebuilding classic corvettes and sports. He held his PGA card, played on the Jets farm team in the 1960s as well as played semi-pro baseball and softball as a catcher.
In his career he was a commercial milk carrier in NYC, he built private homes on Long Island and oversaw the construction of NYC public schools. He was able to build or fix anything he set his mind to.
In retirement, he and his wife Patti initially settled in Stuart, Florida before eventually ending up in Deer Isle, Maine – their home away from home.
