Obituary of Mary Parker McLaughlin
Mary Parker (Horning) McLaughlin, 80, of Ocean View, Delaware passed away peacefully on February 20th 2023 at Arden Courts of Annandale, Virginia.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Walter and Katherine and recently by her husband George. H. “Jack” McLaughlin. She is also predeceased by daughter-in-law Melinda. She is survived by her two brothers Walter and Paul, her sons John and William, step granddaughter Laura Chaconas, her husband Steven, their daughter Cassidy, and many dear friends.
Mary grew up in Washington, D.C., and later, the Maryland suburbs where she met her husband and raised their two sons while partnering to run a successful HVAC company. Travel and ballroom dance were just two of their shared joys as “empty nesters”. A later career in real estate brought Mary great pride, and she continued in that business for several years as she and Jack retired to the Delaware shore. She joined the local historical society and enjoyed many close friendships in retirement. She loved flowers, animals, children, the celebration of holidays and all of life’s beautiful joys. Her quick and warm smile will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have known her, and it will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at Southern Columbia Baptist Church, 8814 Guilford Road, Columbia, MD on the 8th of April, 2023 at 1pm, followed by fellowship and a light lunch. Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund in lieu of flowers.
