Obituary of Patrick E. Pagsibigan
Patrick Esguerra Pagsibigan passed away peacefully on February 2nd, 2023 due to Alzheimer’s ailment enhanced by Covid and pneumonia, survived by his wife, Rebecca Morales Pagsibigan; their four children, Roderick, Rowena, Rissa (Bruce Lundegren), and Rochela. He was truly a devoted and adoring husband; and a caring, dedicated and loving father to his children. Upon the onset of Alzheimer’s, Rebecca had resigned from work and took care of him for 12 years. They had a wonderful life together for 57 years.
When he held the title of Mr. Philippines in 1956, he became a popular figure in the Philippines and later in the Filipino community in the Washington, DC area where his family settled. He was well-liked in his place of work both at Caltex and Firestone Companies in the Philippines; and later at Suntrust Bank in Vienna, Virginia where he worked for almost 20 years until his retirement in 2011. Patrick and his wife were both active in the social and fundraising activities in the Philippine-American community affairs in Washington, DC, Virginia and Maryland. As ballroom dancers, they were regulars at formal dinner-dance events. An avid karaoke singer, he was known to have always scored 100.
Patrick will be terribly missed by his family, relatives, work-mates and friends both here in the U.S. and in the Philippines. He will always be remembered as someone ready to lend a helping hand, a kind gentle soul and always had a smile on his face. Everyone he met loved him.
