Obituary of Max Lee May

Max L. May, Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather passed away in Northern Virginia surrounded by his family on January 10, 2023 after an unexpected stroke at the age of 76.

Born in Cambridge, Ohio on August 18, 1946 to the late Milburn and Mina May.  Max grew up in Cambridge until joining the Navy after high school.   He then met his wife of 56 years, Nancy May where they lived and raised three daughters in Horn Lake, MS until relocating to Miramar Beach, FL in 2021.

Max worked at Memphis Equipment Company in Memphis, TN for over 40 years where he made countless friendships and memories. He also served on the DeSoto County Civic Center Board for ten years where he enjoyed making friends and helping his community flourish.

Max is survived by his wife Nancy, his daughters Melissa May Tusch (David), Ann Marie Charnes, and Jessica May Thomas (George), one mother-in-law, Elouise Allison, one brother, Kay May, one brother-in-law, Anthony Allison (Ginger), three grandsons, Alden Charnes (Hayleigh), Nicholas Sisco and George Thomas, II, two granddaughters Lauren White (Ronnie) and Lucy Thomas, one great-grandson, Harrison Charnes and a multitude of nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased in death by his brother, Jay May (Mary), one brother-in-law, Bobby Allison (Rita), one father-in-law, Andrew Allison, and two sisters, Dorothy Vincent (Don) and Shirley Baird (Ray).

Max was a treasured family man and friend to many.  If you knew him briefly or for a lifetime, he left an indelible mark on you that will not be forgotten.
