Fernando Delos Reyes

Obituary of Fernando N. Delos Reyes

Our beloved Fernando, 90, passed from this world on January 3rd, at home, surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer. If you were blessed to know him, you know that he was a man of true honor who was deeply dedicated to his family and country. The youngest of 10 children, he set sail from his hometown of Nueva Ecija, Philippines to follow his dreams of a life in America. He joined and served 20 years in the United States Coast Guard and in those early years, he met the love of his life Lydia on the dance floor at a hometown festival while on leave. They enjoyed 58 years of life and adventure together and were an example of true healthy love and devotion.

Fernando lived a colorful blessed life and career that took him from the Philippines to California, New England and the DMV, with his loyal wife and children by his side. After service in the USCG, he served 10 years in the Office of the Doorkeeper for the House of Representatives and then as a professional chef for the Department of Health and Human Services. At home, he treated his loved ones to the most fantastic meals, offered his home as a place of gathering and safe-haven for so many family and friends, crafted beautiful art pieces and woodworking projects, and made sure to empty your pockets at the home poker table with a jab and a grin. These are just some examples of how this man shared his talents with us all and explored his endless curiosity in his 90 blessed years of life.

We will miss his smile, gentle care, silly humor and steadfastness among many things that made Fernando unique and loved. He is remembered by his three children Roslyn, Ronald, Richard as well as his four grandchildren, Ronald, Jillian, Ryan, and Robert.
