Obituary of Kathleen Boland Yannopoulos
Kathleen Boland Yannopoulos, 71, of Vienna, VA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2022, surrounded by her family. Kathleen, known as Kathy, was born in Bridgeport CT, on February 28, 1951. Kathy is survived by her husband of 50 years Antonios Yannopoulos, three children, Rebecca, Elias and Amanda, two sisters, Rebecca Clock and Donna Olmo and many nieces and nephews.
She received an associate degree from Housatonic Community College in 1971 and a bachelor’s degree from George Mason University in 1984. She worked as an accountant for serval organizations throughout her career. She joined Feld Entertainment as a Senior Accountant and worked for the company for 13 years before retiring in 2018.
Kathy lived a life dedicated to service in our community. Especially, by taking an interest in the success of the young people she encountered. She had an impact on many girls through more than 30 years serving in the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital (GSCNC), in various positions from Troop Leader to Service Unit Chair to Association Chair. She was very active in her church, Friendship United Methodist, where she held the position of church Treasurer for over 10 years. She always provided lively conversation and a patient ear to everyone from the youngest child to the oldest senior.
The visitation will be held at Friendship United Methodist Church, 3527 Gallows Rd, Falls Church VA, on Monday, December 19 from 5 to 8 pm, followed by the Memorial Service at Friendship on Tuesday, December 20 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital (gscnc.org) or Friendship United Methodist Church (https://www.friendshipchurchnova.org/giving).
