Bhagwatiprasad Agnihotri

Obituary of Bhagwatiprasad Agnihotri

Obituary

It is with a great sorrow that we share that our father Bhagawatiprasad’s passed on March 2, 2022. Dad is survived by our loving and caring mother, a son, two daughters, and 4 grandchildren – Ruchi, Ridhi, Ami, and Kajal.

Dad also fondly called dada, started his life journey on March 13, 1931 at Khambhat, India. Dada started his education in Dakor, India and was only sibling completing a post graduate education. Dad had three brothers – Madhusudan, Ghanshyam, and Arunlal and three sisters – Mukundbala, Dharmistha, and Ananta.

After finishing education, Dad started his career in education as a teacher. He worked for a short time at Virpur and then moved to Chikhodra, where he served as teacher until he retired. He was regarded as a great teacher. We have witnessed his hard-working life and leading a middle class family with a great balance. His motto was to work without any expectations:

कर्मण्ये वाधिका रस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन।
मा कर्म फल हेतु र्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्व कर्मणि॥

Bhagavad Gita Chapter 2, Verse 47: You have a right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, nor be attached to inaction.

He not only taught us the value of karma, he lived with that principle. With this principle he earned a title of Saheb – not only among students, but also people surrounding him will address him with respectable title saheb.

After retirement, saheb retired and moved to USA where he spent his life mostly in the retirement. Later, our kids were growing up, he earned a title of dada. Kids were very fond of their dada and Dada will go extra mile to support kids. During the senior years, dada made many friends at temple, senior center, and in the neighborhood. He lived a long and happy life up until the very end and passed peacefully in his sleep at home.

Bhagavad Gita Chapter 2, Verse 22: As a person sheds worn-out garments and wears new ones, likewise, at the time of death, the soul casts off its worn-out body and enters a new one.
