I met John on several occasions, usually when I was lucky enough to have visited my parents in upstate NY during a time when John and Pat came to visit them in NY. My mother, Ethelyn, was Pat's cousin. I found John to be thoroughly engaging, and could speak to him for hours at a time. The reason - John always spoke humbly and softly from the heart, with a sense of humor that was always refreshing. There was never any note of intellectual arrogance, and for this reason, I found him easy to listen to and speak to. I will miss John even though I have only been in his presence 3 or 4 times. My condolences to Pat and her wonderful family. Loved the service and the readings.
