Maria, Jose-Luis and their three eldest children moved to the United States in November of 1962. Maria worked at the World Bank for several years and taught Spanish and French for many years at the Langley School in McLean, Virginia. McLean was home for the majority of her life.
Throughout her life she was an avid tennis player, traveler and sports enthusiast with a particular interest in Real Madrid and all teams and athletes tethered to her beloved Spain.
