Neal and Lois were so inviting when I moved into the neighborhood. They were always there for me. I remember the first snow fall after I moved in - I didn't have a contractor to do snow removal, but early that morning, I heard rumbling outside my door. I looked out to see Neal with his tractor plowing the snow from my driveway! To me, that embodies what he and Lois are all about - helping out when needed and not being asked. Neal is just a wonderful soul. I miss him dearly and am so happy to have known him. Thank you to Neal, Lois, and Barb - such a wonderful family! Love always, Lissa Carter

The Celebration of Neal's Life Service was "Fantastic"! What a beautiful tribute to Neal and to Lois and Barb as well. Natasha, Katie, Barb and all did an outstanding presentation of the outstanding, warm humorous, kind and gentle man Neal was. Thank you for including us on the list to attend, we loved every minute. The photo gallery was outstanding as well and a total joy to watch. We know Lois, Neal and Barb from Army Navy Country Club and have cherished laughing with them for over 25 years. The music and "Hoo-Ah" finale were a perfect salute to Neal and all the family, and left us laughing..just as Neal & Lois always have! We extend our sincerest condolences to Lois & Barb, but know that the Angel that Neal is now allows him to be with you always.
Take care & much love,
Jane & John Tuck

Neal was an amazing guy, wonderful friend, and one of the kindest persons we’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. We have many, many sweet memories of him and will thankfully cherish each and every one of them for years to come. The world needs more “Neal’s”, and he will be sorely missed, but we are so grateful for having known such an incredible gentleman, and that he truly was.

One of the fondest memories I have of my Uncle Milford was when he and Aunt Lois attended my daughter's wedding in Virginia. I had asked if they would be substitute Grandparents for my daughter since both my Mom and Dad were gone. They accepted happily. Uncle Milford gave a most wonderful and heartfelt toast to my daughter and her husband. It was so much appreciated by me and the bride and groom. Thank you .

Neal was a wonderful neighbor. Lois and he were one of the ‘Originals’ on the Windstone Development, as are we. We have lived side-by-side in great harmony for around 40 years, both families having moved from McLean Hamlet. One of the joys of winter was watching Neal’s snow ritual as he plodded up and down our roads on his beloved snowplow-tractor, so everyone could escape to work or school. He had a wonderful attitude to life and we always knew we could rely on Neal’s cheerful, smiling help and support. Pam and Geoff Edwards

Sunday mornings don't seem the same without Neal and Lois in "their" pew, greeting everyone with a smile and a warm hello. Neal's work on our behalf at Chesterbrook is a debt we can not calculate, as well as all else he did for our community. His barked shout-out of approval had us all laughing fondly. I miss Neal. Bless his memory and the family.

I served with Colonel Nealis back in the 1960's in Germany as a staff officer and one of his company commanders. He was a good commander, demanding at times but always with a smile and sense of humor. He was my counselor when I was contemplating marriage, and he and Lois were very helgful to Joan and me after our wedding, where he stood in for her father in giving her away during the ceremony. Lois, and Neal were inspirational and supporting to many of us newly married couples in the battalion. We didn't stay in touch with Neal and Lois as much as we should have, but he was always cheerful and warm every time we talked on the phone. Joan and I send our best to Barbara and Barb in their time of grief, but we join them in celebrating the long and fruitful life of Neal Nealis. Hal and Joan Morgan, Vicksburg, Mississippi.

It is not too much to say that Neal was -- and continues to be -- the heart and soul of Immanuel Presbyterian Church. His joyful spirit and joshing, open ways are part of our congregation's genetic code. So, as long as there is an Immanuel, there will be Neal-spirit in the world. And that's a precious gift.

I was Mr. Neal's caregiver from October 2019 - February 2021. Because of his compassionate, generous and kindheartedness, it made me felt like taking care of my own father. I will miss him a lot!!!

Neal and I became instant friends when we first played tennis at the Army Navy Club in Arlington. Some might say it was because we were both New Jersey boys or because we were part of the Band of Brothers in the US Army; not so. It was clearly because Neal was just a great guy to be around. He always had a sharing smile, a positive attitude, a sharp wit , and was a consummate gentleman. How fortunate I am to have had Neal as a good friend and to have so many fond memories of really fun times with him and Lois. May Neal Rest In Peace knowing that he added so much to the lives of so many people. Jim Dethlefsen

Jim and I have so many fond memories of Neal and are blessed with our friendship of many years. This is truly a celebration of Neal's well spent life. He gave so much to his family and friends. Always up for fun and adventure, I especially will cherish Neal's greeting to me, "ANNIE BABY!". Lois, 72 years of devoted marriage brings so much comfort and he rests in peace, with love.
