Obituary of Pam Gage

It is with great sadness we announce the death of Pamela Gage, 73, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She died at home with her husband at her side and with the love of her family in her heart. 

Pamela, who was known to most as Pam, was born on August 30, 1947, in Hoboken, New Jersey. She and her brother Geoffrey were raised by her parents Henry and Josephine Ott in Tenafly, New Jersey. Pam attended Green Mountain College in Vermont for two years and then received her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art at American University, Washington DC. Soon after graduating she met the love of her life and husband, Richard Gage. They lived and raised their daughter, Emily Gage Fernandez, in Arlington, Virginia.

Pam and Richard spent their honeymoon in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in December of 1969 where they enjoyed learning about the Amish lifestyle and culture. During their 51 years of marriage, the many wonderful times together included going to the beaches of the Outer Banks, North Carolina and Chincoteague, Virginia; traveling to Nashville and Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Chain O Lakes, Wisconsin; camping; attending stage and concert events; going to museums, and so many other experiences that make for memories that will never fade. 

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who wanted to experience life to its fullest. Pam loved being active, whether it was taking long walks with her dog, working in the garden, playing with her grandchildren, or instructing fitness classes. She told it like she saw it and would go to the ends of the earth for her family and the people she loved. 

There are too many good times to count and some of the little things are the ones that stick out the most. Like, dancing around the house to Barry Manilow, our yearly Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, and Birthday get-togethers, apple picking, going to Graves Mountain Lodge Fall festivals, breakfasts at the park, picnics at the lake, watching Nat’s games, going to the beach and diving into the waves, and simply spending time together. 

She took care of her grandchildren when her daughter Emily went back to work and looked forward to spending time with them any chance she had. She always had fun activities planned for them. She loved to do crafts with Megan and take Luke to the batting cage. She also enjoyed baking, going to parks and playgrounds, feeding the ducks, and playing cards with them. She loved them with a passion, and they love her right back. 

Pam also loved her dogs, three in her adult life - Lizzy, Tucker, and Stella. She made sure they were well taken care of and loved grooming them, walking them, and even singing to them.

An open house gathering will be held at the home of Richard and Pam, 1032 N Montana St. Arlington VA 22205 between 3:00 and 5:00 PM on Aug. 21.

Friends and relatives are invited to stop by to pay respects and visit during that time.
