Obituary of Peter Joseph Halberstadt, Sr.

Peter J. Halberstadt, Sr., 75, of Arlington, VA, passed away on April 29, 2021, surrounded by family at home.  

He was born on December 24, 1945 and immigrated from Germany at the age of 4 with his mother, Elsa Lauten, arriving through Ellis Island following WWII. He graduated Valedictorian from St. George High School in Pittsburgh, PA and received a degree in Mathematics from The University of Pittsburgh.  

Peter will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Rosemary, of 47 years and his children, Christine Halberstadt Goldblatt (Kevin) of McLean, VA, Cheri Cruz (John) of Orlando, FL, Peter Halberstadt Jr. (Alison), of Newton, MA, and Kathleen Henry (Jason) of Arlington, VA and his grandchildren, Owen, Skylar, Austin, Charlotte, Emmett, and Sarah.   Peter will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. 

Peter was known for his love of people and his ability to find humor and adventure in every situation. He was well known for telling jokes and sharing stories with everyone he met and was often found deep in conversation with strangers wherever he went.  

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 5-7 PM at Advent Funeral Home in Falls Church, VA.   The memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at 10:30 A.M, at St. James Catholic Church in Falls Church, VA The Mass can be viewed by clicking this link:https://vimeo.com/544668422/fa8c21945e with burial to follow at Fairfax Memorial.
