Obituary of Lowell George Fitzgerald
On Tuesday, April 6, 2021, Lowell George Fitzgerald, writer, musician, and devoted friend, brother, and son, passed away at the age of 37 after over two years living with cancer.
Lowell was born on August 20, 1983 in Fairfax, VA to Larry and Nancy Betz Fitzgerald. Passionate about writing and storytelling, Lowell received his Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from American University, BA from VCU, and graduated from Fauquier High School in 2002. His short stories were published by Boxfire Press. In his most recent position as case analyst at Liberman & Mark, he supported veterans and worked to ensure they received their full disability benefits.
Lowell was a long-time musician, playing and collecting guitars since middle school. He was an avid watcher of movies and television and loved nothing more than sitting around discussing the latest comedy show or film. Lowell loved to laugh, and those who knew him well can probably remember his big guffaw, which was the best reward for a well told story or joke. He was a kind loving spirit and true friend.
Lowell is survived by his parents, Larry and Nancy, his sister Melody Fitzgerald Foster (James), niece Phoenix Foster, uncle Bruce Betz, aunt Pam Hendericks (Frank), and cousins Stacey Gruver (Todd) and Bobby Adkins (Lisa).
A funeral service will be held later this year when it is safe to gather in person together.
