Obituary of Russell Eugene Mason, Sr.

Russell Eugene Mason, Sr. of Arlington, VA, entered into rest on June 24, 2020, at Virginia Hospital Center. Born in Washington, DC, on July 12, 1948, he was raised in Cherrydale, Arlington, VA, in a home built by his father. He was one of Eugene Russell Mason and Minnie Marie (Varnau) Mason’s seven children.

 

Russell is a 1968 graduate of Washington and Lee High School in Arlington, VA. He joined the US Air Force in 1969 serving in Germany and Korea. After leaving the Air Force, Russell was a Drywall/Paster/Stucco contractor, and later he transitioned to carpentry. He loved camping, fishing, playing video games, history, sci-fi and woodworking.

 

Russell is survived by his two sons, Russell Eugene Mason Jr. And Lawrence Edward Cutlip-Mason; two grandchildren, Xavier Eugene Cutlip-Mason and Sebastian Cutlip-Mason; and six siblings, Donna (Jack) Persinger, Judith Mason, Linda Overcash, Carol Mason, David Mason, and Cathy Pettis.

 

A brief visitation will be held for family and friends at Advent Funeral Services, 7211 Lee Highway, Falls Church on Sunday, July 5, 2020 from 10-11 a.m., immediately followed by a celebration of his life at the same location. Burial will follow in National Memorial Park in Falls Church.
