Obituary of Carolyn M. Wolcott

 

Carolyn M. Wolcott, passed away April 29, 2020 at her home in Annandale, VA surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). She was born June 28, 1950 in New York, New York, the daughter of Ostell and Mary (Sullivan) Odom.

In 1972, she received her Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from UNC Asheville. She then began a successful 47-year career in Banking, Marketing and Program Management. While raising her family in Oxon Hill, MD, where she was a Band, Cheer, Dance Squad, Track & Field and ROTC Mom…the ultimate cheerleader.

Carolyn dedicated her life to the well-being of others. A devout Catholic, Carolyn was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church in Oxon Hill, MD, for over 30 years, where she was a member of the Gospel Choir and most recently, a member of St. Ambrose in Annandale, VA.

She will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, Grammy and devoted friend. Carolyn is survived by her husband Gary Wolcott; daughters, Kelly Headen DePiazza (Leigh) and Erin Headen Murray (David) and sons David Headen (Kendra) and Michael Wolcott (Jessica); first husband and lifelong friend Gregory Headen; grandsons Alexander and Christopher DePiazza and Gregory, Joseph and Michael Murray; brother John Odom and sister Mary Ann Boland (Wiley); dozens of nieces and nephews; her loyal caretaker Matilda Bonsu and 100’s of friends.

A Catholic Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am (EDT) on August 29th at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 3901 Woodburn Road, Annandale, VA.
