Obituary of Katherine Labrecque Skiba

Katherine Labrecque Skiba, of Alexandria, VA, died on Friday, February 28, 2020, at the age of 83, from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. She was born in Middletown, NJ, on May 13, 1936, and grew up in Fair Haven, NJ, as one of eight children of the Honorable Theodore J. and Marjorie Uprichard Labrecque. She graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School in Red Bank, NJ, and Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA. She is survived by 4 children, Thomas (Carol) of Alexandria, VA, Michael (Jane) of Highland, NY, Paul (Nora) Skiba of Alexandria, VA, and Beth Autery of Williamsburg, VA; 8 grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, Brielle, Joy, Jesse, Shelby, Ben, and Josiah; 5 of her seven siblings, Jeanne Gagliano of Little Silver, NJ, Robert (Rita) of Little Silver, NJ, David (Terene) of Lewes, DE, Susan (Howard) Woolley of Long Branch, NJ, and Barbara (William) Danowitz of Fair Haven, NJ, as well as 23 nephews and nieces and their families. She was predeceased by her parents and 2 brothers, the Honorable Theodore J. Jr. (Joan) of Holmdel, NJ, and Thomas G. (Sheila) of Fair Haven, NJ. Prior to retirement, she was the Executive Assistant to the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors for American Desk Corporation. She had previously worked at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Parish in Wyckoff, NJ.

 

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 13th, beginning at 1:30 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2701 Cameron Mills Road, Alexandria. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

 

She will be interred at a later date at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown, NJ, following a Catholic Funeral Mass at the Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven, NJ.
