Obituary of Jacqueline Ziegele Hillman

Jacqueline Ziegele Hillman died from cancer, age 73, on October 31, 2019 at her home in Falls Church, VA. Jacqueline was born in Somerville, NJ, and raised in Annandale, NJ. She earned her BA from Upsala College, attended graduate school at Smith College, and earned her MA in Social Work from Adelphi University. She was employed as a counselor by Southeastern University and Northern Virginia Community College. A dedicated volunteer, she served as president of the Guam Memorial Hospital Volunteers Association, and was instrumental in stopping the sale of cigarettes at the hospital’s gift shop. She served as educational advisor at the United States Embassy in Singapore. She is survived by two children, Lauren Fasceski and Greg Svitil, from her first marriage to Edward Svitil. Her second husband, Warren Hillman, preceded her in death. She is also survived by a sister, Jeraldine Ziegele, and two brothers, George Ziegele and Edward Ziegele; three stepchildren, Hope Adler, Craig Hillman, Jason Hillman; and nine grandchildren. She enjoyed travel and gardening, hiking and reading.
