Obituary of Alicia Garcia

Our beloved Alicia was born on October 17, 1978, in Fontana, California to Adolfo P. and Christina Madrid Garcia. She passed away on November 27, 2019, in Falls Church, Virginia at the age of 41. Alicia is survived by her fiancé, Jeremy Kirk and their beloved dogs, Charlie and Brutus; her parents, Adolfo and Christina Garcia; her sisters, Christina Toten (Jimmy), Lourdes Fusi (Shane), and brother, Michael Garcia; nephews and nieces: Damon Garcia, Kylie Toten, Jewelia Garcia, Michael Toten, Mason Toten, Bella Fusi, Maddox Toten, Giada Fusi, Kadence Toten, Americo Fusi, and Lenora Fusi; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Alicia is preceded into death by her paternal grandparents, Federico and Lenora Garcia, and maternal grandparents, Albert and Guadalupe Madrid. Alicia spent her early childhood years in Beaumont, California. In 1990, her parents moved the family to Holtville, California, where Alicia attended Pine Elementary and graduated from Holtville High in 1997. Alicia continued her higher education at San Diego State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2001. After college, Alicia worked for the State of California with the DMV for over 5 years. In 2006, Alicia began her career in law enforcement as an Investigative Assistant with the California Department of Justice (CADOJ), Street Interdiction Team assigned to the Imperial Valley Law Enforcement Coordination Center (IV-LECC). She then went on to work as a Criminal Research Specialist with the Imperial County District Attorney’s Office, assigned to the IV-LECC, working with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Upon moving to Virginia, Alicia worked for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), HSI as a Criminal Research Specialist at the CBP National Targeting Center (NTC) within the Transnational Organized Crime Division, where she left a lasting impact. Alicia was ambitious and determined in her career, and a loyal team member. Alicia relocated to Virginia in 2017, with the love of her life, Jeremy and their fur-babies, Charlie and Brutus, where they built a home, and made a lifetime of lasting memories. The loving couple had grand plans for their future and were looking forward to many adventures and creating a beautiful family together. One of Alicia’s favorite pastimes was being a second mom to her nieces and nephews. She had an incredible bond with her sisters and brother and was a loving, selfless daughter who prioritized spending quality time with her parents. Alicia was a rock, lovingly honest, and ‘all in’ with her friendships. Alicia had an adventurous spirit, whether it was spending time in the villages of Fiji to hiking the Andes Mountains of Peru, where Jeremy proposed in Machu Picchu. She was a natural at hosting, preparing wonderful food and desserts for her friends to enjoy. Alicia will be remembered for her quick wit, beautiful simile, amazing laugh, and special hugs. To know her was to love her and her bright light will be sorely missed.
