Obituary of Anna May Lint

On Sunday morning, January 12, Anna May Lint, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep just shy of her 92nd birthday. Born Feb. 21, 1928, she is survived by her 7 children: Catherine Ann (Messina), James William, Theresa Marie, Thomas Michael, John Robert, Jeffery Matthew and Thaddeus David; and her 8 grandchildren: Michaela, Matthew, Steven, Grace, James, Brian, Duncan and Magdalene and two step-grandchildren Tristan and Charles and their children. Anna May was born to the late Lela Mae Sparks-Blackmore and William Simeon Blackmore. Anna May was the youngest child, and only girl, in her large immediate family. William Blackmore moved the family, and helped settle the town of, Lusk, Wyoming with his children Anna May and her brothers, who proceeded her in death, Clifford, Merlin, Bobby, Theron, Clyde, Guy, Eugene, Edward, Harold, Delmar and LeRoy. Enjoying ranch life, Anna May had a passion for animals and enjoyed horseback riding in her youth. She and her children always had several pets in their house over the years including their much-loved family dogs Wiener, Lucky and Fred and cats Tabby and ‘Mommy Kitty.’ Anna May moved to the DC/Metro area in 1950 and eventually settled down to raise a family in Alexandria, VA. In addition to her being a devoted wife and homemaker most of her life, Anna May was also a beloved member of the Alexandria City School System having worked for several years with them as well as a long-time supporter of their charity The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria. Anna May was a practicing Catholic having attended services at Queen of Apostles and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where her children also attended school. She was a lover of classic country music with Eddie Arnold’s “The Cattle Call” one of her favorite tunes. She will be missed by all that knew her for her wit, caring and giving nature, and her friendship. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Advent Funeral Home located at 7211 Lee HWY, Falls Church, VA 22046. This will take place on Sunday, Jan. 19th from 2-4PM. Per her request, she will be cremated and laid to rest at Fairfax Memorial Park Cemetery.
